CORONAVIRUS AND YOUR APPOINTMENTS

INFECTION CONTROL RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED ON US HAVE SEVERELY CUT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WE CAN SEE.  WE ARE PRIORITISING EMERGENCIES AND PATIENTS WITH OTHER PROBLEMS THAT REQUIRE ATTENTION.

IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY - OR ARE CONCERNED ABOUT ANY OTHER SYMPTOMS - PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO CALL:  A NURSE AND / OR DENTIST WILL ASSESS YOU AND, IF NECESSARY, WILL ARRANGE TO SEE YOU. 

NHS CHECK-UPS: WE REGRET THESE ARE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE 

CURRENT INFECTION CONTROL PROTOCOLS INSIST THAT A TREATMENT ROOM MUST BE LEFT FALLOW FOR AN HOUR AFTER EVERY 'AEROSOL' PROCEDURE.  AN 'AEROSOL' PROCEDURE IS ONE WHERE A FINE, WET MIST IS GENERATED, USUALLY BY A DENTAL DRILL.  THE ROOM MUST THEN BE DEEP CLEANED BEFORE ANOTHER PATIENT MAY ENTER IT.

THIS RESTRICTION HAS CUT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WE CAN SEE IN ANY ONE DAY BY +/- 70% MEANING EMERGENCIES AND OTHER 'MUST SEES' HAVE BECOME OUR FOCUS. THESE ARE SUFFICIENT IN NUMBER TO FILL OUR DIARIES, LEAVING NO ROOM FOR CHECK-UPS.  WE CAN ALSO ONLY USE TWO OF OUR THREE SURGERIES FOR TREATMENTS AND CONSEQUENTLY ONLY HAVE ONE NHS DENTIST HERE EACH DAY (PREVIOUSLY WAS TWO).

PLEASE KEEP CHECKING BACK FOR UPDATES.    WHEN WE ARE ABLE TO RESUME CHECK-UPS THE NUMBER IS LIKELY TO BE LIMITED.   PATIENTS WITH A HISTORY OF ORAL HEALTH ISSUES PLUS CHILDREN WILL BE GIVEN PRIORITY.  WE WON'T BE SENDING OUT A BLANKET E-MAIL ANNOUNCING THE RESUMPTION OF CHECK-UPS - WITH OVER 6000 PATIENTS ON OUR BOOKS WE WOULD BE UNABLE TO MANAGE THE VOLUME OF CALLS IT WOULD GENERATE.

DENPLAN AND PRIVATE PATIENTS: DAVID HUDSON HAS RESUMED EXAMINATIONS FOR HIS PATIENTS. 

HYGIENIST: OUR HYGIENIST SERVICE IS FULLY OPERATIONAL ALBEIT  WITH 'HAND SCALE' CLEANING ONLY.  AT THEIR DISCRETION OUR HYGIENISTS WILL ALSO POLISH YOUR TEETH. 

HYGIENIST & DENTIST 'COMBINED' APPOINTMENTS 

THESE HAVE BECOME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SCHEDULE AS SURGERIES THAT HAVE BEEN REQUISITIONED FOR AEROSOL GENERATING PROCEDURES CAN'T BE USED BY DENTISTS FOR CHECK-UPS.  

IF YOU CAN VISIT YOUR DENTIST AND HYGIENIST SEPERATELY WE'LL BE ABLE TO BOOK YOU IN MUCH SOONER. WE APOLOGISE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE BUT IT'S BEYOND OUR CONTROL.

PRE-APPOINTMENT HEALTH SCREENING  

WE WILL E-MAIL YOU A COVID HEALTH ASSESSMENT. IF YOU HAVEN'T RETURNED IT 24 HOURS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT WE WILL CALL YOU TO QUICKLY CHECK YOUR COVID STATUS.

PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE PRACTICE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. 

  • PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME - NOT EARLY - AS WE WISH TO AVOID USING THE WAITING ROOMS.
  • APPOINTMENT TIMES ARE STAGGERED TO AVOID PATIENTS CROSSING IN THE PUBLIC AREAS.
  • PLEASE WEAR A FACE MASK. IF YOU FORGET TO BRING ONE WE SELL THEM FOR £1.
  • WE WILL ASK YOU TO SANITISE YOUR HANDS ON ARRIVAL.  WE WILL TAKE AND RECORD YOUR TEMPERATURE.  
  • IF YOU COUGH OR SNEEZE PLEASE USE A TISSUE, BIN IT, AND WASH HANDS
  • OBSERVE STRICT 2M SOCIAL DISTANCING AT ALL TIMES
  • ADULTS PLEASE ATTEND ALONE, CHILDREN WITH ONE PARENT / GUARDIAN
  • YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE SHOPPING BAGS AND BULKY ITEMS AT RECEPTION.
  • PATIENT TOILET FACILITIES ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME
  • PLEASE KEEP SOCIAL INTERACTION TO A MINUMUM.  WE MAY ASK YOU TO CALL AND BOOK FUTURE APPOINTMENTS INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM AT RECEPTION
  • PAYMENT SHOULD BE MADE BY CARD IF POSSIBLE PLEASE.

COVID ANTIBODY TESTS

AVAILABLE TO ANYONE WHO WANTS ONE ON A 'FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED' BASIS.  THE TEST IS A SIMPLE THUMB PRICK WITH THE RESULT TWELVE MINUTES LATER.  IT IS 97% ACCURATE AND COSTS £35.  TO BOOK PLEASE CALL 01992 505828.

The Wand – dentistry WITHOUT the injection

Recognising that many people are anxious about injections, we can undertake much dental work without using a traditional injection syringe. This is thanks to a technologically advanced device we've bought called The Wand which enables us to numb a tooth in a more comfortable way without needing to use a traditional injection (£12.50 charge applies). We believe we are the only dental practice in Hertford to offer its patients this more comfortable alternative to a dental injection.
