NHS CHECK-UPS FROM JANUARY 2022

A CONTINUING TREATMENT BACKLOG, COUPLED WITH A HIGH NUMBER OF PATIENTS SEEKING URGENT APPOINTMENTS, MEANS THERE'S LESS SPACE IN OUR DIARIES FOR CHECK-UPS.  

COMMENCING JANUARY 2022, PRIORITY ACCESS TO CHECK-UP APPOINTMENTS WILL BE GIVEN TO PATIENTS WHO HAVE ONGOING DENTAL PROBLEMS, CHILDREN,  TEENAGERS, AND PATIENTS WHO DID NOT HAVE A CHECK-UP IN 2021.  

MOST NHS ADULT CHECK-UPS WILL BE OFFERED BETWEEN 08.00 AND 09.00, 12.00 AND 13.00 WITH CHILDREN'S / FAMILY APPOINTMENTS RUNNING FROM 15.30 ONWARDS. WE WILL ALSO ARRANGE SOME 'CHILDREN ONLY' DAYS DURING HALF TERM.  OUR DENTISTS HAVE HAD TO 'ZONE' THEIR DIARIES THIS WAY TO FREE UP SUFFICIENT TIME DURING THE DAY FOR THEIR TREATMENT BASED APPOINTMENTS.

WE APOLOGISE FOR THE INCONVENEINCE 'BEING TOLD' WHEN YOU CAN MAKE AN APPOINTMENT POSES, BUT THESE ARE EXCEPTIONAL TIMES FOR WHICH WE ALL NEED TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS.

FOR REASONS OF CAPACITY, WE REGRET WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT NEW PATIENTS FOR NHS DENTISTRY, NOR ARE WE ABLE TO OFFER NHS APPOINTMENTS TO PATIENTS WHO HAVE NOT BEEN TO THE PRACTICE FOR FOUR OR MORE YEARS.  

EMERGENCIES & WORRYING SYMPTOMS

IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY - OR ARE CONCERNED ABOUT ANY OTHER SYMPTOMS - PLEASE CALL FIRST THING.  WE RESERVE A LIMITED NUMBER OF EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS EACH DAY WHICH ARE ALLOCATED ON A  'FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED' BASIS.

YOU DON'T NEED TO BE REGISTERED WITH A PRACTICE TO ACCESS NHS EMERGENCY DENTAL SERVICES, HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE NOT A REGULAR ATTENDER OF A DENTAL PRACTICE WE ADVISE YOU TO CALL NHS 111 FOR SUGGESTIONS AS MOST DENTAL PRACTICES DO NOT HAVE THE CAPACITY TO SEE OTHER THAN THEIR REGULARS.  

PRIVATE APPOINTMENTS

PRIVATE AND DENPLAN APPOINTMENTS ARE CONTINUING AS NORMAL ALBEIT WITH LONGER WAITING TIMES.  

HYGIENIST: OUR HYGIENIST SERVICE IS FULLY OPERATIONAL WITH AN ADDITIONAL HYGIENIST WORKING ON SATURDAYS.  

HYGIENIST & DENTIST 'COMBINED' APPOINTMENTS 

THESE ARE DIFFICULT TO ARRANGE AS INFECTION CONTROL PROCEDURES DEMANDED BY THE PANDEMIC HAVE REDUCED THE NUMBER OF APPOINTMENTS.  

IF YOU CAN VISIT YOUR DENTIST AND HYGIENIST SEPERATELY WE'LL BE ABLE TO BOOK YOU IN MUCH SOONER. WE APOLOGISE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.

KEEPING YOU SAFE IS OUR TOP PRIORITY

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT WE WILL E-MAIL A COVID SCREENING ASSESSMENT. IF YOU HAVEN'T REPLIED WE WILL ASK YOU TO COMPLETE IT WHEN YOU ARRIVE. 

  • OUR WAITING ROOMS ARE OPEN, HOWEVER, TO REDUCE CONTACT, PLEASE DON'T ARRIVE MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES AHEAD OF YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME.
  • PLEASE WAIT OUTSIDE WHERE POSSIBLE TO AVOID WAITING ROOM TRAFFIC
  • PATIENTS MUST WEAR A FACE MASK PLEASE, EXCEPT IN THE TREATMENT ROOMS.  
  • WE WILL ASK YOU TO SANITISE YOUR HANDS ON ARRIVAL  
  • IF YOU COUGH OR SNEEZE PLEASE USE A TISSUE, BIN IT, AND WASH HANDS
  • PLEASE OBSERVE 2M SOCIAL DISTANCING 
  • ADULTS PLEASE ATTEND ALONE, CHILDREN WITH ONE PARENT / GUARDIAN
  • YOU MAY BE ASKED TO LEAVE SHOPPING BAGS AND BULKY ITEMS AT RECEPTION.
  • PATIENT TOILET FACILITIES ARE NOT AVAILABLE
  • PAYMENT BY CARD PLEASE.

Wednesday 08.00 - 17.30 then 18.00 - 20.00 (pvt & hygiene patients)

Thursday 08.00 - 17.00 

Friday 08.00 - 16.00 

Saturday 08.30- 12.00 (hygiene)

Bank Holidays: The Practice closes on all bank holidays INCLUDING Good Friday, Easter Monday & New Year's Day

Out of Hours and Emergencies: The NHS 111 can give emergency dental advice and, if necessary, refer to an out-of-hours dentist. DENPLAN members can call DENPLAN'S emergency help line on 0800 844999

The Wand – dentistry WITHOUT the injection

Recognising that many people are anxious about injections, we can undertake much dental work without using a traditional injection syringe. This is thanks to a technologically advanced device we've bought called The Wand which enables us to numb a tooth in a more comfortable way without needing to use a traditional injection (£12.50 charge applies). We believe we are the only dental practice in Hertford to offer its patients this more comfortable alternative to a dental injection.
