CORONAVIRUS & DENTISTRY STATUS UPDATE

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  RESUMING THE SERVICE AFTER LOCKDOWN 

AFTER NEARLY TWELVE WEEKS OF INACTIVITY WE HAVE A LONG LIST OF PATIENTS WHO NEED TO SEE US. 

FOR THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF OPENING THESE PATIENTS MUST BE OUR PRIORITY.  HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE ANY WORRYING SYMPTOMS OR AN EMERGENCY PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO CALL AND A DENTIST WILL ASSESS YOU AND IF NECESSARY ARRANGE TO SEE YOU. 

CHECK-UPS: WE REGRET WE ARE UNABLE TO OFFER ANY EXAMINATION / CHECK-UPS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

HYGIENIST: WE HAVE A LIMITED NUMBER OF HYGIENE APPOINTMENTS.  OUR HYGIENISTS CAN'T USE ANY OF THE HANDPIECES THAT GENERATE AEROSOL SO CLEANING WILL BE VIA 'HAND SCALING' ONLY.  OUR HYGIENISTS ARE PERMITTED TO POLISH THE TEETH (N.B. THIS IS NOT AN AEROSOL PROCEDURE) AFTER CLEANING THEM, HOWEVER THIS PROCUEDURE IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE HYGIENIST. 

CHANGES TO THE DELIVERY OF OUR SERVICE DURING COVID-19

THESE ARE CHALLENGING TIMES FOR US ALL AND IN ORDER TO OFFER A SAFE AND EFFICIENT SERVICE WE WILL CALL ALL PATIENTS THE DAY BEFORE THEIR APPOINTMENT TO CHECK THEIR COVID STATUS.  THIS HAS TO BE DONE BEFORE YOU CAN ENTER OUR PRACTICE.  IF WE ARE UNABLE TO CONTACT YOU WE WILL NEED TO ASK YOU TO REMAIN OUTSIDE WHILE WE CALL YOU TO RUN THROUGH THE QUESTIONS. 

PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE PRACTICE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT: ALWAYS CALL

  • PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME, NOT EARLY: WE WANT TO AVOID USING WAITING ROOMS. APPOINTMENT TIMES ARE STAGGERED TO AVOID PATIENTS CROSSING IN THE PUBLIC AREAS.
  • WE WILL ASK YOU TO SANITISE YOUR HANDS ON ARRIVAL AND TO WEAR A MASK. WE WILL TAKE AND RECORD YOUR TEMPERATURE.
  • IF YOU COUGH OR SNEEZE PLEASE USE A TISSUE, BIN IT AND WASH HANDS
  • OBSERVE STRICT 2M SOCIAL DISTANCING AT ALL TIMES
  • ADULTS PLEASE ATTEND ALONE, CHILDREN WITH ONE PARENT / GUARDIAN ONLY
  • PLEASE DO NOT BRING BAGS ETC: YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE BAGGAGE AT RECEPTION.
  • PLEASE NOTE PATIENT TOILET FACILITIES HAVE BEEN WITHDRAWN
  • PLEASE KEEP SOCIAL INTERACTION TO A MINUMUM.  WE MAY ASK YOU TO CALL US TO MAKE FUTURE APPOINTMENTS INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM AT THE RECEPTION DESK
  • PAYMENTS SHOULD BE MADE BY CARD IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

THANK YOU FOR OBSERVING THESE REQUESTS.  WE KNOW THEY SOUND A BIT DRACONIAN AND COLD BUT WE HAVE TO FOLLOW GUIDANCE ISSUED TO US AND EVERYTHING IS DONE WITH YOUR AND OUR TEAM'S SAFETY AT HEART.

Bank Holidays: The Practice closes on bank holidays INCLUDING Good Friday, Easter Monday & New Year's Day

Out of Hours and Emergencies: The NHS 111 can give emergency dental advice and, if necessary, refer to an out-of-hours dentist. DENPLAN members can call DENPLAN'S emergency help line on 0800 844999

The Wand – dentistry WITHOUT the injection

Recognising that many people are anxious about injections, we can undertake much dental work without using a traditional injection syringe. This is thanks to a technologically advanced device we've bought called The Wand which enables us to numb a tooth in a more comfortable way without needing to use a traditional injection (£12.50 charge applies). We believe we are the only dental practice in Hertford to offer its patients this more comfortable alternative to a dental injection.
