Teeth Whitening in Hertford

Tooth whitening can be highly effective in lightening the colour of teeth without removing any of the tooth's surface.  It cannot make a tooth change colour but it lightens the existing colour, usually with very pleasing results.  We use a 6% hydrogen peroxide gel that is only available by prescription and under the supervision of a GDC registered dentist.  It is  a criminal offence for anyone other than a dentist to whiten teeth as the materials and lights used by beauticians and others pretending to be dentists can cause irreversible damage to teeth and gums.

The degree of whiteness achieved will vary from person to person.  It is important to have realistic expectations and to note that the chemicals used to whiten teeth will not work on fillings, veneers, crowns or dead teeth although sometimes the latter can be whitened from the inside out in a process known as 'internal bleaching'.  A dentist will check all your teeth individually to ensure that teeth whitening is safe and if all's good will enjoy helping you restore a lighter shade to your smile.
